The pin code, the boundaries, what is actually inside it and how far it is from the metro and the tech corridor — counted and measured from OpenStreetMap, not guessed.
HSR Layout Sector 1 is pin code 560102 and the largest of HSR Layout's seven sectors — about 2.24 km², roughly a third of the whole layout. It is the north-east corner: it takes in the old village of Agara, the northern end of 27th Main Road, the Sarjapur Road frontage and the stretch of the Outer Ring Road where the future Agara metro station is being built.
The pin code of HSR Layout Sector 1 is 560102. It is the pin code of the HSR Layout Sub Post Office, a delivery office in India Post's Bangalore South division, and it covers all seven HSR Layout sectors — there is no separate pin code for Sector 1.
The confusion comes from the Agara part of the sector. Some addresses there, including the published address of the Agara metro station, are written with 560034. India Post lists 560034 as the Koramangala pin code, and it also covers the Agara Branch Post Office — a non-delivery office, which means post is not delivered from it. For anything you want delivered in Sector 1, use 560102.
| Pin code | India Post offices on it | Delivers post? | What it means in Sector 1 |
|---|---|---|---|
| 560102 | HSR Layout Sub Post Office | Yes | The pin code for every HSR Layout sector. Use this one. |
| 560034 | Koramangala S.O. (delivery); Agara B.O., Koramangala I Block S.O., St. John's Medical College S.O. (non-delivery) | From Koramangala only | Appears on some Agara addresses. Not HSR Layout's own pin code. |

Sector 1 is the north-east corner of HSR Layout, and at about 2.24 km² it is more than twice the size of any other sector. The seven sector polygons add up to 6.71 km², so Sector 1 alone is about 33% of the layout. Sector 2, the next largest, is 0.99 km²; Sector 4, the smallest, is 0.50 km².
Its northern edge is the Outer Ring Road, with Agara Lake at its north-west corner. On its eastern side it fronts Sarjapur Road. 27th Main Road — the road most people mean by HSR Layout's high street — runs north–south through it and continues south into Sector 2. Sector 4 is its neighbour to the west, Sector 2 to the south.
| Sector | Area (km²) | Share of HSR Layout |
|---|---|---|
| Sector 1 | 2.24 | 33% |
| Sector 2 | 0.99 | 15% |
| Sector 5 | 0.91 | 14% |
| Sector 6 | 0.85 | 13% |
| Sector 7 | 0.69 | 10% |
| Sector 3 | 0.53 | 8% |
| Sector 4 | 0.50 | 7% |
The size is the single most useful thing to know about Sector 1. A "Sector 1" address can be a lakeside street off the Outer Ring Road or a lane off Sarjapur Road more than 2 km away, so the sector name alone tells you much less here than it does anywhere else in HSR Layout.
Sector 1 has more mapped shops, clinics and places to eat than any other HSR Layout sector — more than its share of the area, not just more because it is bigger. It holds a third of the layout's land but 45% of its mapped supermarkets and grocers, 44% of its clinics and doctors and 35% of its places to eat and drink.
| Mapped in OpenStreetMap | In Sector 1 | All seven sectors | Sector 1's share |
|---|---|---|---|
| Restaurants, cafés, bars and fast food | 100 | 284 | 35% |
| Supermarkets, grocers and provision stores | 19 | 42 | 45% |
| Clinics, doctors and dentists | 16 | 36 | 44% |
| Places of worship | 16 | 29 | 55% |
| Banks | 10 | 33 | 30% |
| Gyms and sports facilities | 10 | 42 | 24% |
| Pharmacies | 9 | 26 | 35% |
| Schools and pre-schools | 9 | 36 | 25% |
| Parks | 8 | 43 | 19% |
| Hospitals | 6 | 23 | 26% |
| Laundries and dry cleaners | 6 | 9 | 67% |
| Coworking spaces | 4 | 16 | 25% |
Two things stand out. First, Sector 1 is where HSR Layout does its errands: groceries, clinics, dentists, laundries and bank branches cluster here, along 27th Main and towards Sarjapur Road. Second, it is not where the green space is — it has a third of the land but under a fifth of the mapped parks, and only 4 of the layout's 16 mapped coworking spaces. HSR Layout Police Station is mapped in Sector 1, as are the government schools of Agara and an urban primary health centre.
Food is the clearest case. Sector 1 has 100 of HSR Layout's 284 mapped places to eat and drink, and 79 of them sit within 500 m of the sector's centre, more than around any other sector centre. The busiest single food street in the layout is not in Sector 1, though: it is the 17th and 18th Cross pair through the middle of the layout. The full count is in where to eat in HSR Layout.
Sector 1's nearest metro station will be Agara, about 0.8 km from the sector centre, but the nearest station open today is Central Silk Board, about 3.1 km away — tied with Sector 2 as the furthest of the seven sectors from a working metro.
| From the centre of Sector 1 to… | Straight line | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Agara metro station site (Blue Line) | 0.8 km | Under construction; planned Blue and Red Line interchange |
| HSR Layout metro station site (Blue Line) | 1.7 km | Under construction |
| Central Silk Board (Yellow Line) | 3.1 km | Open |
| Agara Lake | 0.9 km | — |
| HSR Layout BDA Complex | 1.3 km | — |
Passenger service on the Blue Line through HSR Layout is now reported for 2027, so for the time being Sector 1 is a sector you leave by road. When the Blue Line does open, Agara is on the same line as Bellandur, Kadubeesanahalli (for Embassy TechVillage) and Marathahalli, with no change of trains. Every published opening date, with its source, is on our HSR Layout metro station guide.
Sector 1 is the HSR Layout sector closest to the eastern tech corridor. From its centre, Embassy TechVillage is about 7.6 km by road and Brookefield, in western Whitefield, about 11.3 km — the shortest Whitefield distance from any of the seven sectors.
| From the centre of Sector 1 to… | Distance | Measured as |
|---|---|---|
| Nexus Koramangala (Forum) | 5.8 km | Road |
| Electronic City metro station | 6.8 km | Straight line |
| Embassy TechVillage | 7.6 km | Road |
| Brookefield, western Whitefield | 11.3 km | Road |
| Whitefield, centre of the administrative area | 15.1 km | Road |
| International Tech Park Bangalore (ITPB) | 16.0 km | Road |
| Kempegowda International Airport | 43.8 km | Road |
Road distances are the OSRM fastest route on OpenStreetMap data with no traffic. They are distances, not journey times — peak-hour traffic on the Outer Ring Road and at Silk Board changes the time far more than the kilometres. For comparison, Embassy TechVillage is about 9.2 km by the same measure from the centre of Sector 7, on the opposite side of the layout. Routes are in our guides to commuting from HSR Layout to Whitefield, commuting to Electronic City and the wider HSR Layout commute guide.
Sector 1 suits you if you want shops and food within walking distance and work east along the Outer Ring Road; it suits you less if you rely on the metro today or want a quiet street.
| If you… | Sector 1? | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Work at Bellandur, Embassy TechVillage, Marathahalli or Whitefield | Good fit | Closest sector to the eastern Outer Ring Road; 7.6 km to Embassy TechVillage and 11.3 km to Brookefield by road |
| Want groceries, clinics and food on foot | Good fit | Most mapped supermarkets, clinics and places to eat of any sector |
| Want to use the metro now | Weak | Central Silk Board, the nearest open station, is 3.1 km away — joint furthest of any sector |
| Work in Electronic City or on Hosur Road | Neutral | All seven sectors are within 1.4 km of each other in distance to Electronic City; Sectors 6 and 5 are closer to Silk Board |
| Want parks and quiet residential streets | Weak | Under a fifth of the layout's mapped parks; it is the busy side of HSR Layout |
Because Sector 1 is so large, the street matters more than the sector name. A flat near the lake and the Outer Ring Road is a very different stay from one on 27th Main or off Sarjapur Road. To compare all seven sectors on the same measurements, see the HSR Layout sectors guide.
The pin code of HSR Layout Sector 1 is 560102, served by the HSR Layout Sub Post Office, which is a delivery office in India Post's Bangalore South division. Some addresses in the Agara part of Sector 1 are written with 560034 instead — that is the Koramangala pin code, which also covers the non-delivery Agara Branch Post Office. For post and couriers, 560102 is the one to use.

The nearest future station is Agara on the Blue Line, about 0.8 km from the centre of Sector 1 in a straight line. The HSR Layout station site is about 1.7 km away. Neither is open; passenger service on that stretch is now reported for 2027. The nearest station open today is Central Silk Board on the Yellow Line, about 3.1 km away — the furthest of any sector except Sector 2, which ties.
From the centre of Sector 1, Embassy TechVillage is about 7.6 km by road and Brookefield in western Whitefield about 11.3 km, the shortest of any HSR Layout sector. These are OSRM fastest-route distances on OpenStreetMap data with no traffic, not journey times.
