We counted every restaurant, café, bar and fast-food place mapped inside HSR Layout's seven sectors. Here is which streets they sit on, and which sectors have the most.
HSR Layout's restaurants and cafés cluster on a handful of streets inside the grid, not on the Outer Ring Road. In an OpenStreetMap count on 15 September 2026, the parallel 17th and 18th Cross Roads had the most places to eat and drink (84), ahead of 14th Main Road (43), 27th Main Road (42) and 19th Main Road (35).
Six streets hold most of the eating out in HSR Layout. Of the 284 places to eat and drink mapped inside the seven sectors, 222 (78%) sit within 50 m of one of them. HSR Layout's main roads run north–south and its cross roads run east–west, so the food streets form a loose grid of their own rather than a single strip.
| Street | Runs | Places within 50 m | Restaurants | Cafés | Fast food | Bars & pubs | Sectors it passes through |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 17th & 18th Cross Road (a parallel pair) | East–west, through the middle | 84 | 33 | 20 | 17 | 9 | 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7 |
| 14th Main Road | North–south, west of centre | 43 | 21 | 7 | 11 | 1 | 3, 4, 5, 7 |
| 27th Main Road | North–south, eastern edge | 42 | 24 | 5 | 9 | 0 | 1, 2 |
| 19th Main Road | North–south, through the middle | 35 | 20 | 8 | 5 | 0 | 1, 2, 3, 4 |
| 24th Main Road | North–south, east of centre | 28 | 13 | 1 | 13 | 1 | 1, 2 |
| 22nd Cross Road | East–west, south side | 26 | 9 | 12 | 4 | 0 | 2, 3, 7 |
| Outer Ring Road (inside the sectors) | Along the northern edge | 7 | 4 | 1 | 1 | 1 | 1, 5, 6 |
Counts are OpenStreetMap, 15 September 2026. Ice-cream shops are included in "places within 50 m" but have no column of their own, so the columns do not always add up to the total.
It is the best known, but not the busiest by count. OpenStreetMap had 42 places to eat and drink within 50 m of 27th Main Road on 15 September 2026, against 84 along the parallel pair of 17th and 18th Cross Road that runs east–west through the middle of the layout. 14th Main Road, with 43, is level with 27th Main.
27th Main's reputation is not wrong, just incomplete. It runs along the eastern edge of the layout through Sectors 1 and 2, and it carries more restaurants than any other main road (24). What it does not have is the cafés or the bars: 5 cafés and no bars or pubs within 50 m on the count. For those, the cross roads are where to look.
Sector 1 has the most in absolute terms, but Sectors 4 and 3 are the densest. Sector 1 holds 100 of the 284 mapped places, but it is also by far the largest sector at about 2.2 km². Per square kilometre, Sectors 4 and 3 lead at about 69 and 66 places per km². Sector 5 is the sparsest, with 10 places, about 11 per km².
| Sector | Area (km²) | Places inside the sector | Per km² | Restaurants | Cafés | Within 500 m of the sector centre |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sector 1 | 2.24 | 100 | 45 | 51 | 20 | 79 |
| Sector 2 | 0.99 | 33 | 33 | 10 | 12 | 46 |
| Sector 3 | 0.53 | 35 | 66 | 14 | 11 | 62 |
| Sector 4 | 0.50 | 35 | 69 | 14 | 11 | 68 |
| Sector 5 | 0.91 | 10 | 11 | 7 | 1 | 26 |
| Sector 6 | 0.85 | 35 | 41 | 21 | 3 | 38 |
| Sector 7 | 0.69 | 36 | 52 | 21 | 5 | 69 |
The last column is the one that matters if you are choosing somewhere to stay. It counts every mapped place within 500 m of the sector's OpenStreetMap centre, whichever sector it is in, which is a fair stand-in for "what can I walk to for dinner". On that measure Sector 1 (79), Sector 7 (69) and Sector 4 (68) come out ahead, and Sector 5 (26) is the quietest. Sector centres and their coordinates are on our HSR Layout sectors guide.
Mostly on the cross roads rather than 27th Main. Of the 63 cafés mapped inside HSR Layout, 20 were within 50 m of 17th and 18th Cross Road and 12 were within 50 m of 22nd Cross Road in Sectors 2 and 3, against 5 along 27th Main Road. By sector, Sector 1 had 20 cafés and Sector 2 had 12, while Sector 5 had 1 and Sector 6 had 3.
22nd Cross Road is the one street where cafés outnumber restaurants: 12 of its 26 mapped places are cafés. If you want somewhere to sit with a laptop, start on 22nd Cross Road through Sectors 2 and 3, or on 17th and 18th Cross Road. Whether a particular café has reliable Wi-Fi or welcomes laptops is a question for the café, not for a map.
A few. OpenStreetMap listed 12 bars and pubs inside HSR Layout's seven sectors on 15 September 2026, and 9 of those 12 were within 50 m of 17th or 18th Cross Road. Check current opening hours before you go, because bars open, close and change hands faster than any map updates.
Two more numbers from the count explain why this page stays cautious about night-time eating. Only 26 of the 284 places carry opening hours in OpenStreetMap, which is too few to say what is open late in any street. And only 114 carry a cuisine tag at all. Among those, Indian (25) is the most common tag, followed by coffee shop (16), pizza (11), and regional and juice (10 each). That is a hint, not a ranking.
Because HSR Layout eats inside its grid. The Outer Ring Road runs along the northern side of the layout, yet only 7 of the 284 mapped places inside the sectors sit within 50 m of it. Sarjapur Road had 1 and Hosur Road none. Those roads are for getting somewhere. The eating happens a block or two in, on the mains and crosses.
There is a caveat. Our count stops at the sector boundaries, so a restaurant on the far side of the Outer Ring Road or Sarjapur Road, outside HSR Layout proper, is not in these numbers. What the count does show is that once you are inside HSR Layout, you do not have to go out to a main road to eat.
The centre of Sector 6 is about 0.2 km in a straight line from 17th Cross Road, the busiest food street in HSR Layout by OpenStreetMap count, and about 0.7 km from 14th Main Road. Sector 6 itself had 35 places to eat and drink mapped inside it, 21 of them restaurants and 3 of them cafés.
That is the honest picture of Sector 6, where HSR Stay is being built: it has plenty of restaurants but few cafés, and its best-served street, 17th Cross, is a short walk from the sector centre. The distances from each sector centre to the nearest food street, measured the same way:
| Sector | 17th Cross Road | 14th Main Road | 19th Main Road | 22nd Cross Road | 24th Main Road | 27th Main Road |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sector 1 | 0.42 km | 1.12 km | 0.46 km | 0.77 km | on it | 0.29 km |
| Sector 2 | 0.33 km | 1.12 km | 0.41 km | on it | 0.11 km | 0.38 km |
| Sector 3 | 0.34 km | 0.37 km | 0.33 km | on it | 0.85 km | 1.02 km |
| Sector 4 | 0.25 km | 0.34 km | 0.31 km | 0.58 km | 0.78 km | 1.08 km |
| Sector 5 | 0.60 km | 0.33 km | 1.05 km | 0.94 km | 1.51 km | 1.78 km |
| Sector 6 | 0.22 km | 0.69 km | 1.41 km | 0.53 km | 1.88 km | 2.18 km |
| Sector 7 | 0.26 km | 0.32 km | 1.02 km | 0.14 km | 1.53 km | 1.66 km |
Straight-line distances from each sector's OpenStreetMap centre to the nearest point of the named street inside HSR Layout. They are not walking routes, which will be longer. "On it" means the sector centre sits within about 25 m of the street.
Because restaurant lists go stale within months and we cannot check every kitchen before publishing. This guide counts what is mapped and shows where it clusters, which changes slowly. For a specific restaurant, its menu or whether it is open tonight, use a live listing such as Google Maps, Zomato or Swiggy.
Where a place sits changes much more slowly than which place it is. A street with 40 places to eat will still have plenty of them next year, even if half the names have changed. That is the part of the question a map can answer well, and it is the part that matters when you are deciding which sector to stay in.
In an OpenStreetMap count on 15 September 2026, the most places to eat and drink inside HSR Layout sat within 50 m of 17th and 18th Cross Road (84 places), 14th Main Road (43), 27th Main Road (42), 19th Main Road (35), 24th Main Road (28) and 22nd Cross Road (26). Between them those streets account for 222 of the 284 places mapped inside the seven sectors.
