Is the HSR Layout metro station open?

No. As at August 2026 the HSR Layout metro station is under construction and has never carried passengers. Construction of the section it sits on — Reach 2A Package 1, a 9.859 km stretch — was awarded to Afcons Infrastructure on 13 October 2020.

If a listing, a broker or a blog tells you HSR Layout has metro connectivity today, they are describing something that has not happened yet. The nearest station you can actually board a train at is Central Silk Board, on the Yellow Line.

Which line is the HSR Layout metro station on?

The Blue Line. This is the single most commonly reported error about the neighbourhood, and it matters because the two lines go to completely different places.

Sources differ slightly on the length of Phase 2A — Wikipedia gives 19.633 km while press reporting commonly rounds it to 19.75 km. Both refer to the same Central Silk Board to Krishnarajapura corridor.

When will the HSR Layout metro station open?

No opening date is confirmed, and the published targets do not agree with each other. Here is every date currently in circulation, with who said it:

The gap between "trial runs in October 2026" and "passenger service in 2027" is not a contradiction — it is the normal sequence. Trains, signalling and power systems are tested first, then the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety inspects the line, and only then can it carry passengers. How long that takes is the variable nobody publishes in advance.

Where exactly is the HSR Layout metro station?

The station is elevated, sits in Sector 6 of HSR Layout on the Outer Ring Road corridor, and is recorded at coordinates 12.91649°N, 77.63304°E. Wikipedia lists its address as AH45, Sector 6, Bengaluru 560034 — the 560034 pin belongs to neighbouring Koramangala, which is a common quirk of addresses along this stretch of the ring road.

It has two side platforms and double track. Trains run toward Central Silk Board in one direction and Agara in the other.

Which stations will the Blue Line connect HSR Layout to?

Phase 2A puts HSR Layout two stops from Silk Board and on the same line as most of the Outer Ring Road tech corridor. The 13 stations, in order:

For anyone working along the ORR, that list is the whole point. Embassy TechVillage, Bellandur, Marathahalli and Doddanekundi all sit on the same line as HSR Layout, with no interchange between them. Those are journeys that today mean the Outer Ring Road at rush hour.

The Blue Line does not stop at Krishnarajapura. Will HSR Layout have more than one metro station?

Yes — two. Alongside HSR Layout station in Sector 6, Agara station is listed at Agara Village, 1st Sector, HSR Layout. It is also elevated, also under construction on Phase 2A, and is planned as an interchange with the proposed Red Line.

In practice that means the northern and southern ends of the layout each get their own station, rather than the whole neighbourhood funnelling through one entrance.

How do you reach the metro from HSR Layout today?

Via Central Silk Board, on the Yellow Line, roughly 1.5–2 km from the layout depending on your sector. The Yellow Line has been running since 10 August 2025 and covers 19.15 km from RV Road to Bommasandra across 16 stations.

The June 2026 improvement came from BMRCL adding two Titagarh-built trainsets, taking the corridor to 10 active rakes. Trains run from about 5 am to 11 pm.

Going south from Central Silk Board, the Yellow Line reaches Bommanahalli, Hongasandra, Kudlu Gate, Singasandra, Hosa Road, Beratena Agrahara, Electronic City, Infosys Foundation Konappana Agrahara, Huskur Road, Biocon Hebbagodi and Delta Electronics Bommasandra. That makes Electronic City reachable by metro from HSR Layout today, provided you cover the first 1.5–2 km to Silk Board by auto, cab or bus.

Going north it reaches BTM Layout, Jayadeva Hospital, Ragigudda and RV Road, where it meets the Green Line.

When the Blue Line opens, Central Silk Board becomes a Blue–Yellow interchange, and an elevated walkway with a travelator has been reported as planned to link the two station boxes.

What will the metro actually change for HSR Layout?

Three things, and it is worth being precise about which:

• The ORR corridor becomes a train ride. Bellandur, Embassy TechVillage, Marathahalli and Doddanekundi move from a traffic-dependent road journey to a fixed-duration one on a single line.
• Silk Board stops being a bottleneck you must cross. Today, reaching the Yellow Line means getting to Silk Board Junction — widely reported as Bengaluru's second-most congested junction after Hebbal. A station inside HSR Layout removes that leg.
• The airport gets a rail option, eventually. Phase 2B extends the Blue Line to Kempegowda International Airport, which is 45–50 km away by road. That is a later phase, not part of the Phase 2A opening.

What it does not change: the layout's internal geography. HSR Layout remains a place where getting from your street to the arterial road is a short auto or walk, and two stations do not make seven sectors walkable to a platform.
